- Ammonia or Chlorine bleach [for tougher stains]
Step 1: Scrape off the dirt
- Get a blunt instrument like a spoon or a dull knife to scrape the syrup off the carpet.
- Do this as soon as the syrup drops on the carpet.
- Try to take out as much syrup off the carpet as possible without rubbing the stain deeper into the carpet
Step 2: Mix the detergent
- Take out your measuring spoon

- If you are using dishwashing fluid, increase the measurement to 2 tablespoons for the same amount of water
Step 3: Use the detergent mix on the stain
- Rub the detergent mix into the carpet stain using the clean cloth
- Blot the stain gently but firmly just until you can't find a trace of detergent in the stained area

- Rub the ammonia solution into the stain on the carpet until it is well absorbed
- Allow it to sit for a few minutes before moving to the next step
Step 6: Do a dry rinse on the stain spot
- Dip a clean cloth in the cold water
- Squeeze to extract any excess water from the cleaning cloth
- Blot the stain spot and repeat until detergent/ammonia is clear
Step 7: Allow the place to dry
At the end of this last step, the spot should be completely stain-free

- The fabric should feel damp and not wet to the touch after you do the above
